Yuri V. Ushakov
In 1970 graduated from Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) and took service at the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 1970-1986 – held different positions at the Embassy of the USSR in Denmark, at the Department of Scandinavian Countries of General Secretariat at the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Graduated from professional training courses at Diplomatic Academy, defended a thesis on the topic of foreign policy of Northern European countries (PhD in Historical Sciences). 1986-1992 – Deputy Head of the Mission, Consul Ambassador of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR and Russia to Denmark. 1992-1996 – Head of Department of European Cooperation of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (was responsible for cooperation with OSCE, EU, NATO, NASS, Western European Union, Council of Europe, regional European organizations).
1996-1998 – Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Russia at OSCE in Europe (Vienna, Austria). 1998 - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation (coordinated cooperation with UN, legal and humanitarian issues, protection of human rights, language issues and archives). Served as Co-Chairman of Inter-Departmental Commission on Coordination of Participation of the Russian Federation in Peacekeeping Missions. 1998-2000 – Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the US in conjunction with the position of Permanent Observer of the Russian Federation at Organization of American States in Washington, DC (USA). 2008-2012 – Deputy Head of Governmental Office. Since 2012 – Aide to the President of the Russian Federation
Honored employee of the Diplomatic Service of the Russian Federation, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Recipient of four orders, two medals and three orders from the Russian Orthodox church.
