The V Russian-Georgian meeting of young professionals. Day 1. International law, sanctions and digital sovereignty

On July 27, the V Russian-Georgian meeting of young political scientist was opened in Moscow. Another conference of experts from the two countries is being held under a unique motto “Connecting through a compromise – towards mutual trust”.


The program of the first day was opened by President of the Russian Association of International Law Anatoly Kapustin. When talking about problems in the field of international law in modern world, the participants covered issues of revision of the UN Charter and international aspects of sanctions.


The topic of sanctions was also discussed at the seminar held by member of the Advisory Board of the Institute for Strategic Assessments and Forecasts, Director of the Center for Strategic Assessments and Forecasts, member of the Gorchakov Fund’s Club of Friends Sergey Grinyaev.


The speaker covered a mechanism of introduction of sanctions and specified their action as an element of a hybrid war. He provided examples of sanctions wars of the US against Iran, the Balkan states, Belarus and Cuba.


The program of the day ended with a speech by Head of the Innovations and Digital Technologies Department of the Institute for Emerging Market Studies at SKOLKOVO Vladimir Korovin. He told about such a concept as “digital sovereignty” when applied to a personality and a state.
