The press tour of Polish journalists. A meeting at the Gorchakov Fund
On May 10, the press tour for Polish journalists continues in Moscow. The delegation was hosted at the Gorchakov Fund by its Executive Director Leonid Drachevsky.
“I am glad that meetings with Polish journalists are becoming regular”, stressed the head of the Gorchakov Fund. He told the guests about the Fund, its history and achievements, programs and projects, grants and information support.
Importance of direct contacts between the civil societies of Russia and Poland was discussed at the roundtable. It was noted that an extensive dialogue of scientists and artists, journalists themselves could become a power, which would be noticed by authorities in Moscow and Warsaw. Youth, civil activists, representatives of the academic society, of all others, are free of propagandistic platitudes and stereotypes. They can come to an agreement and listen to each other’s opinions about complicated issues in the bilateral relations.
Cooperation with Polish NGOs is important for the Gorchakov Fund. Leonid Drachevsky mentioned that non-profit organizations of the neigbouring country had an opportunity to apply for financial support of their projects. The main thing is that those projects should be in the field of public diplomacy.
The guests shared their impressions about Moscow and the celebration of the Victory Day there. They said that they could see what May 9th meant for millions of Russians and how sacred the heroic deed of the nation during the Great Patriotic War was for them. That holiday was celebrated with a special feeling in Poland – the victory achieved by brothers in arms is bringing people together from across the border.
The program of the day ended with a meeting of the journalists with representatives of Russian-Polish Center for Dialogue and Understanding. The delegation will go to St. Petersburg in the evening of May 10th.
