The Potsdam Meetings are opening in Berlin
On May 17, the 21st Potsdam Meetings are opening in Berlin. The conference, which has become traditional, was organized by the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund and the German-Russian Forum.
The discussion topic is “New Governments in Germany and Russia: Ways to Mutual Understanding in Politics and Economy”. The Potsdam Meetings are taking place at a time when new appointments were made in the governments of both countries as well as after the visit of Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs Heiko Maas to Moscow and ahead of the trip of German Chancellor Angela Merkel to Sochi. It is expected that the foreign minister of Germany will present to the attendees of the forum.
Top politicians and public figure from the Russian Federation and Germany, diplomats, journalists and business leaders will participate in the conference. The delegation will also include six representatives from youth forums of the Potsdam Meetings, which were held on May 11 and November 13-14, 2017 in Moscow.
The main topics of the dialogue will include assessment of chances for future cooperation and decrease of existing barriers, HR and content-related reform of work of the governments in both countries, specific opportunities for building the common digital economic space. The discussion will also include the 2018 FIFA World Cup, which will begin in June in Russia.
