The II Youth Forum of the Potsdam Meetings announced by Vladimir Putin is opening in Moscow

12 November 2017

The second Youth Forum of the Potsdam Meetings will take place in Moscow on November 13-14. The event was organized by the Gorchakov Fund and the German-Russian Forum.

The topic of the conference is “Russian-German Partnership: from Misunderstanding to Cooperation”. Discussion blocks will be dedicated to the following issues:

  • “The German Policy towards the EU and Russia after the Elections in Bundestag”;

  •  “Between Europe and Asia: Russia as an Economic Bridge”;

  •  “Cyberspace in the 21st century: Chances and Risks”.

Importance of the dialogue in such a format was also mentioned by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The head of Russia announced the second Youth Forum of the Potsdam Meetings two weeks ago during a joint conference with his German colleague Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

25 participants were included into Russian and German delegations based on competitive selection. Among them – young politicians, governmental officials, lawyers, economists, journalists, scientists, researchers, teachers and public figures of the both countries.

The forum will be opened by Executive Director of the Gorchakov Fund Leonid Drachevsky, Chairman of the Management Board of the German-Russian Forum Matthias Platzeck and Director of the Third European Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Nechayev.

We would like to remind that in May the Gorchakov Fund held the Youth Forum of the Potsdam Meetings for the first time jointly with the German-Russian Forum. The final resolution was presented at the 20th Potsdam Meetings, which took place on June 22-23 in Berlin.
