The Gorchakov Fund will organize a series of events at top universities and think tanks of Madrid and Seville

A series of events, organized by the Gorchakov Fund in cooperation with top universities and think tanks in Spain, will take place in Madrid and Seville.

A Russian delegation formed by the Fund includes representatives of MGIMO under MFA of Russia: Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation, Professor at the Department of Diplomacy Yevgeny Astakhov, Associate Professors at the Department of Diplomacy Alexander Orlov and Ivan Popov as well as diplomat and researcher Sergey Sysoyev (Madrid).

On January 29, expert roundtable “Prospects of Relations between Russia and Countries of Western Europe on the Background of the Trust Crisis in Russian-U.S. Relations” will take place at the Center of International Studies of the Complutense University of Madrid. After that, the discussion about Russian-European relations with the participation of Russian experts will be organized at “Alternative” Foundation (Fundación Alternativas).

On January 30, roundtable on Russian-Spanish relations from the perspective of a political dialogue and cooperation between Russia and the West on current issues of European security will take place at the Institute of International Relations and Foreign Policy (INCIPE). It is expected that Ambassador of Russia Yuri Korchagin will address the audience. Partners of the event are the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Madrid and “Spain-Russia Council” Foundation. A discussion about Russian-European relations will be organized at the Spanish Committee for Pan-European Unity (Paneuropa España).

On January 31, Russian experts will make a presentation about the Russia’s position on current issues in relations with the West at the Autonomous University of Madrid and will have a discussion with their Spanish colleagues. In addition to that, a briefing for students is expected to be held.

On February 1, roundtable and briefing for students “A Modern Stage in Relations of Russia and the West” will take place at Loyola University Andalusia (Seville).

On February 2, Russian experts will present a position of Russia on current issues of Russian-European cooperation at Pablo de Olavide University.

In November of 2017, the Gorchakov Fund sent a delegation to Spain to present at King Juan Carlos University, participate in a roundtable at INCIPE and attend an event in Elche during a conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the October Revolution.
