The Gorchakov Fund organized a roundtable dedicated to SCO issues in Shanghai
On April 12, roundtable “SCO: New Challenges and New Opportunities” took place in Shanghai. It was the first joint event of the Gorchakov Fund and Shanghai Institute of International Studies. The roundtable was held in anticipation of the SCO summit in June in Qingdao.
Experts from top think tanks in Russia and China participated in the event: the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, China Institute of Contemporary International Relations, the Shanghai International Studies University, Institute of Far Eastern Studies RAS, MGIMO under MFA of Russia, St. Petersburg State University, and the Higher School of Economics.
The experts discussed problems of SCO’s expansion, Russian-Chinese-US relations, priorities of humanitarian cooperation, development of trade and economy, internal peace-building as well as if SCO would be able to adapt to new security challenges.
