Russian experts will give lectures to Chinese students in Harbin

On March 6, a meeting between a Russian delegation of the Gorchakov Fund and top experts of the Heilongjiang Academy of Social Sciences took place in Harbin. After the presentation of the Fund, the Russian and Chinese experts discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in the academic field. Then, the Russian experts gave public lectures at University of Heilongjiang. The event had been organized the Gorchakov Fund and Asia-Pacific Institute of Public Diplomacy. The audience included students from the Institute of the Russian Language, Faculty of History, specialists in Russian philology from different courses of study, and post-graduates of the Heilongjiang Academy of Social Sciences.

The first lecture was dedicated to a comparative analysis of the role of the government in the economies of Russia and China. Head of the School of Oriental Studies at HSE, Professor Alexey Maslov told about new models and initiatives in bilateral relations. He suggested forecasting the role, which Asia will be playing in the world in the nearest future.

The second lecture was given by senior researcher of the Center for Studies and Forecasts of Russian-Chinese Relations at the Institute of Far Eastern Studies RAS Dr. Vladimir Petrovsky. His speech was dedicated to bilateral near-border and interregional contacts.

The working agenda ended with a lecture by Head of the Department of American Studies at St. Petersburg State University Dr. Yana Leksyutina. She told the Chinese audience about cooperation between Russia and China within the framework of the international economic system.
