Russia-German Conference of Young Leaders. How it was

05 November 2015

On October 29-31, the 7th Russian-German Conference of Young Leaders, organized by NGO “Germany-Russia: New Generation” jointly with St. Petersburg State University of Economics and with support of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Russia and Germany, Rosmolodezh and the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund, was held in Kazan. Russian and German companies, including EWE, Gazprom, Porsche and others, sponsored the event.

Dr. Olga Podberezkina, Director of the portal ViPerson.ru, writes about that:

“The conference has been held since 2009. Duke Christoph of Oldenburg is its founder and chairman since 2012. During the first two years, the conference was held in Berlin, in 2011 – in Moscow, in 2012 – in Munich, in 2013 – in St. Petersburg and last year – in Hamburg. According to the duke, there is a possibility that the next conference will be held in Hamburg or Berlin again as normally one year the conference is held in Russia and next year in Germany.

During the 7 years since the foundation of the conference, the non-governmental and non-commercial initiative was turned in the largest and unique in its nature platform for a bilateral dialogue. Over a thousand of participants attended the conference. This means that in the end 500 people from the Russian side and 500 people from the German side are having a dialogue with each other. The motto of the present conference is “Trust during difficult times”. It has become the largest bilateral platform for cooperation in 2015.

This year the event was held with support of President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.
