Risks and benefits of cooperation between the EU and the EEU were discussed during the international summer school in the Leningrad region

The International Youth Summer School “The EEU – the EU: from Imbalance to Balance” ended in the Leningrad region. The event, organized by the Center for International and Regional Policy (CIRP), was held with the support of the Gorchakov Fund, the Russian-Baltic Media Center, the Center for Polish-Russian Dialogue and Understanding, and Group of Companies “Tempesto”.

The forum was attended by postgraduates, Master’s and Bachelor’s degree senior students from top universities of Russia, Denmark, Poland, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, and Belarus. They discussed risks and benefits of cooperation between the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union, evaluated opportunities for political and economic cooperation between the EEU and the EU, problems of regional security and ways of conflict resolution.

Foreign affairs experts spoke to the participants. The speakers included Deputy Head of Security and Defense Policy Department of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs Bas Vels, coordinator of scientific consortium “Group on Stability in the South Caucasus” Frederic Labarre, editor-in-chief of IA REGNUM Modest Korolev, Director of the Paris Black Sea Institute Michael Lambert, Associate Professor the Russian State University for the Humanities, member of the Gorchakov Club Sergey Markedonov, and Dean of the Faculty of Law at North-West Institute of Management, branch of RANEPA Sergey Tsyplyayev.
