International scientific conference “Fortunes of Europe - 21st Century” took place with the support of the Gorchakov Fund in Voronezh
International scientific conference “Fortunes of Europe - 21st Century” was held at Voronezh State University. The event, which was held during the final day of international forum “European Space of Higher Education: Ways of Development” and was dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Association of European Studies in Russia and the 60th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome, was sponsored by the Gorchakov Fund.
When opening the conference, Rector of VSU, Professor Dmitry Yendovitskiy mentioned that the discussion of issues of European identity, population flows, tolerance and multiculturalism was important.
President of the Association of European Studies in Russia Alexey Gromyko reminded about the main stages of activities of the organization founded in 1992. Then, according to him, national European studies were making the first steps based on experience accumulated during the Soviet period. Yuri Bortko, who now plays an important role in the association, became its founder and first president. Today, AES includes 26 regional offices located all over Russia.
After expressing deep gratitude to Voronezh State University and the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund, Alexey Gromyko told about past and future events held at all the offices of the Associations dedicated to its anniversary.
