A student from the University of South Carolina received an award from the Gorchakov Fund at the Youth Forum in New York

A forum, which united Russian-speaking youth and young Russian compatriots living in the US, ended in New York. Over 200 people, including representatives of youth NGOs from different states, students and young experts, took part in the event held at the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in New York.

The event had been organized by the Russian Center New York.

The forum was held in cooperation with the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the US, Rossotrudnichestvo, Department of External Economic and International Relations of the City of Moscow with the support of the Gorchakov Fund, KSORS USA, Congress of Russian Americans and Etnomir. 

According to the organizers, the busy agenda of the forum was focused, first of all, on the issues of consolidation of young compatriots and preservation of the historical heritage and the traditions.

The Youth Forum in New York has become known as a prestigious and intellectual event in New York based on the list of speakers and the participants. The forum is an important source of information for its participants about Russia, its policy towards the Russian compatriots, and main trends in socioeconomic and political development of Russia. The speakers at the form included well-known compatriots and experts: top representatives of the Russian immigration of the first half of the last century, clergy and representatives of the art community, the Russian government and federal subjects as well as local authorities. The main characteristic of the forum is that it engages students and young experts into different activities as participants of the discussions and speakers.

The first part of the conference was dedicated to popularization of the Russian culture, the traditions, the language and strengthening relations with Russia. The forum was opened by Ambassador of Russia to the US Anatoly Antonov. He mentioned that the third youth forum in New York, which had brought together over 200 representatives of the Russian-speaking students and young experts from different states of the US, became a useful platform for promotion of the positive image of Russia.
