On June 29, a meeting between the delegation of Chinese Association for International Understanding and representatives of Russian non-profit and academic organizations was held at the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund.

Deputy Executive Director of the Gorchakov Fund Roman Grishenin thanked the partners from CAFIU for productive work in the field of Russian-Chinese cooperation. He stressed that Beijing was one of the most important partners for Moscow.

Roman Grishenin told about experience of the Fund in the field of implementation of research and educational programs and grant projects.

Deputy Executive Director of CAFIU Zheng Yao mentioned that growth of interest to Russia could be observed in China despite the fact that young people from PRC did not know that much about Russia. That interest is demonstrated in different areas – from joint economic projects to cooperation in the non-profit sector.

“Our political dialogue is, surely, successful. This being said, we should strengthen efforts in the field of noncommercial cooperation of our countries”, Ms. Zheng said.

Head of the Center for Political Studies and Forecasting at the Institute of Far Eastern Studies RAS Andrey Vinogradov, Director of the Eurasian Program at the Valdai International Discussion Club Timofei Borodachev, and Advisor to Executive Director of the National Committee on BRICS Research Valeria Gorbacheva participated in the meeting.

The experts discussed issues of the Russian-Chinese cooperation, interregional support to non-profit organizations and the situation in the South China Sea. The experts agreed that the best way to solve territorial disputes was through a bilateral format of negotiations. The parties confirmed their interest in exchange of experience both in the sphere of public diplomacy and research.
