Welcome to the official website of the Public Diplomacy Fund named after outstanding Russian diplomat and politician of the XIX century Alexander Mikhailovich Gorchakov.
International events of the past several decades have demonstrated that the policy of “soft power” – a capability of a country and a society to have an impact on the international space using its cultural, historical and political values – is not losing its importance and relevance. It is obvious that national NGOs, which along with the government are active in the field of foreign policy in order to successfully develop a worthy sociopolitical and business image of Russia in the world, need continuous support and promotion.
The Gorchakov Fund was founded in 2010 with the goal of enhancing international activities of Russian NGOs and other national institutions of the civil society and it represents the first foreign policy mechanism of political and public partnership, which is unique for modern Russia.
As it was emphasized by Russian Foreign Minister and Chairman of the Fund’s Board of Trustees Sergey Lavrov, over the past ten years the Fund had been able to achieve noticeable results in supporting public diplomacy and significantly contribute to expansion of international contacts of national non-governmental organizations. Over 300 grant projects have received support and over 500 events have been organized. Cooperation with Russian and foreign youth is growing. The Gorchakov Club, which unites young participants of research and educational programs, has been successfully operating. Educational forum “Dialogue in the Name of the Future” has become a respected platform. The Primakov Georgian-Russian Public Center in Tbilisi has been actively developing.
Activities of the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund provide integrated support to national institutions of the civil society.
We are working to achieve a common goal by using a joint effort – creating an adequate image of Russia and our national and cultural values for the global community.
