Suleyman A. Kerimov

Russian entrepreneur, member of the Federation Council of Russia fr om the Republic of Dagestan. Majority shareholder of the financial and industrial group Nafta Moscva, owner of the football club Anzhi.

In 1989 graduated from the Faculty of Economics of the Dagestan State University in. While as a student, served as Deputy Chairman of the university’s Trade Union Committee. Started his career as an economist at the Eltav electrical plant and grew to the position of Assistant Director General for Economic Affairs. 1995 – Deputy Director General of Soyuz-Finance. 1997 – research fellow of the International Institute of Corporations, 1999 – Vice President. 1999-2003 – Deputy of the State Duma of the 3rd convocation of Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. 2007 – Chairman of the Republic of Dagestan in the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. Member of State Duma of the 4th convocation wh ere he served as Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee for Physical Education, Sports and Youth, worked at the State Duma Committee for Security.

Head of the Board of Trustees of the Wrestling Federation of Russia. Recipient of Golden Order of the United World Wrestling (former FILA). Rated by Forbes magazine in 2011 as the 19th richest person in Russia with a net worth of $7.8 billion. 2011 – co-owner of OAO Rostelekom.

The charity fund, established by Mr. Kerimov jointly with the Wrestling Federation of Russia and Sports Supporting Fund “New Perspective”, provides financing to the national program on development of freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling “Fight and Win”, the funds of which are directed to specific regions for reconstruction and equipment of gyms, purchase of sports equipment and apparel for kids and youth.
