Call for applications to participate in the international forum “Caucasus in the Beginning of the 21st Century”
On November 13-16, International Forum “Caucasus in the Beginning of the 21Century: the Role of Public Diplomacy in Countering International Terrorism” will be held in Pyatigorsk. This conference will be organized by Stavropol regional NGO Institute of Development of the Civil Society, Interethnic and Interreligious Peace “Unity” and the Pyatigorsk branch of North-Caucasus Federal University with the support of the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund.
The forum is dedicated to a discussion of efficient utilization of tools of public diplomacy in managing joint activities of the state and the society when countering terrorist threats in the Caucasus on regional and global levels. Two major areas have been identified within the topic: a study of tools of public diplomacy in intergovernmental cooperation in order to prevent threats of international terrorism and financing of terrorism in the aspect of economic security of the state.
The goal of the forum is to establish open cooperation between institutes of the civil society and youth of North-Caucasus Federal District, neighboring and bordering states (Abkhazia, Armenia, Azerbaijani, Georgia, Iran, Turkey and South Ossetia) on current issues of cooperation against international terrorism within the framework of developing major areas of public diplomacy.
The agenda includes an academic and educational conference, roundtables, seminars, original courses by experts, and contest of practical projects “A Social Project in Counterturning Terrorism, Extremism and Recruiting”.
Young politicians, financial experts, diplomats, post-graduates, representatives of governmental agencies, youth and public organizations, experts in the field of foreign affairs, world economy, public diplomacy capable of generating and promoting new ideas, age 20-45, from Southern federal entities of the Russian Federation as well as from neighboring and bordering states (Abkhazia, Armenia, Azerbaijani, Georgia, Iran, Turkey and South Ossetia) are invited to attend. Languages of the forum are Russian and English. Organizers of the forum will cover travel, accommodation in double rooms and meals for participants and will also provide support with obtaining a Russian visa for citizens of Georgia, Iran and Turkey. After the conference, all the participants will receive a certificate.
In order to participate, the applicants should send an electronic application by October 20 and attach recommendation and motivation letters, theses of the report and a project of practical activities (if they plan participate in the contest of practical projects).
A book of theses of reports and academic articles is planned to be published based on the results of the forum and will be included into the database of the Russian Science Citation Index.
