“Greater Europe Meetings: Paris 2017”. A youth forum with the participation of the Gorchakov Fund

The V International Youth Forum “Greater Europe Meetings” is taking place in Paris these days. The conference was organized by Youth Association for a Greater Europe with the support of the Gorchakov Fund.

 

The following guests attended an official opening ceremony: Chief of Youth and Sport Section of the Sector for Social and Human Sciences of UNESCO Alexander Schischlik, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to France Alexander Orlov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to UNESCO in Paris Alexander Kuznetsov, Minister of the Eurasian Economic Commission on the Main Areas of Integration and Macroeconomics Tatyana Valovaya, Secretary General of the 2008 French Presidency in the Council of the European Union and Ambassador of France to Russia in 2000-2003 Claude Blanchemaison.

 

During their speeches, the honorary guests mentioned changes, which had taken place on the European continent in the past 5 years. The speakers stressed importance of engaging youth into the international and social agenda as well as utmost significance of relations between Russia and Europe under the modern political conditions. Potential ways of cooperation between the EU and the EEU were discussed as well.

 

The Diplomatic School is also planned to be held as part of the Greater Europe Meetings. Its program includes lectures and master classes on developing debate and negotiation skills.  In addition to that, the participants will participate in modeled negotiations between the European Commission (EC) and the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).


The youth forum will end on July 29.
