The I Eurasian Civil Forum “Youth for the Common Future”. Speeches and comments

The I Eurasian Civil Forum “Youth for the Common Future” has been held in Yerevan. It was organized by public movement Zargazum, Russian-Armenian Alliance of Youth and Research, the Russian Center for Science and Culture (RCSC) in Yerevan and Consulting Center Soznaniye.

 

The platform of the forum brought together 25 representatives fr om EEU countries-members. Young leaders of youth public movements, journalists and economists met to discuss current issues of Eurasian integration, mechanisms of solving problems and strengthening cooperation both inside the EEU and with external geopolitical partners.

 

According to information provided earlier, an official opening ceremony was held at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Armenia, where a panel discussion, dedicated to results of work and prospects of the EEU, also took place. Its experts included Advisor to the Department of Development of Integration of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Dmitry Yezhov, Assistant to the Chairman of the Collegium of EEC Yulia Chalaya, Head of the Department of Mathematical Modeling in Economics at State Economic University of Armenia, Professor Dr. Ashot Tavodyan, and Executive Director of the Center for Continental Cooperation, member of the Gorchakov Fund’s Club of Friends Yuri Kofner. After discussing positive and negative effects of membership in the EEU for each of its members, the delegates of the forum expressed positive opinions regarding prospects of the Union, identifying it, first of all, as an instrument to achieve prosperity of people of its countries-members and, secondly, as an efficient platform to overcome global crisis events.

 

In the second half of the work day, the participants continued discussions at the Yerevan branch of Lomonosov Moscow State University wh ere the experts were joined by Associate Professor Dr. Ashot Tevikyan.

 

The second work day of the forum coincided with the anniversary of independence of Armenia. The delegates visited a celebration parade in the center of Yerevan, after which they went on a tour to Geghard Monastery and pagan Garni Temple. In the evening, work in teams on development of joint projects continued.


The I Eurasian Civil Forum will end on September 25. The agenda of the event includes a wide spectrum of issues including, among others, international cooperation, opportunities for common project activities on the level of civil communities inside the EEU as well as mechanisms for expansion of support provided to public initiatives.
